THE LAGOS COMMUNITY OF PROVIDERS (LCOP)

The Official Unified Directory of Mental-Health Providers in Lagos State

A Lagos State Ministry of Health Initiative

Designed to strengthen access, trust, visibility, and collaboration in mental-health care.

Welcome to the Lagos Community of Providers

Every day, across Lagos and far beyond its borders, individuals and organizations provide counselling, treatment, support, advocacy, innovation, and compassion that quietly hold our communities together.

Until now, Lagos has never had a central, verified, and inclusive platform that brings this entire ecosystem into one place. Today, the Lagos State Ministry of Health has created one.

Introducing the Lagos Community of Providers Directory

A first-of-its-kind unified, Ministry-led mental-health directory that maps every category of provider i.e. clinical, non-clinical, organizational, and diaspora.

This directory is aligned with the Lagos State Mental Health Law (2018), the THEMES+ Agenda, Mental-Health System Strengthening Programmes, Public Health & PHC Reform Strategy.

This platform ensures that:

  • Lagosians can find help safely and easily
  • Providers can be visible and recognized
  • Organizations and innovators can collaborate and connect
  • Policymakers can plan with real-time, credible data
  • The entire ecosystem becomes stronger, coordinated, and more inclusive

Why the Directory Matters

Lagos carries one of the largest mental-health burdens in Nigeria which is driven by population size, pace of life, and urban pressures. Yet, help-seeking is often guided by Word of mouth, Guesswork, social media and Unverified sources. This can leave residents vulnerable, confused, or unable to find appropriate support.

The Lagos Community of Providers Directory solves this by providing a:

  1. Single source of truth: A trusted, real-time, Ministry-authenticated registry of all mental-health actors.
  2. Reliable gateway to care: Residents can locate services by LGA, specialty, service type, language, cost, or accessibility.
  3. Stronger referral network: Providers can connect, coordinate, and collaborate more effectively.
  4. Data-driven system: Government gains real-time insights for planning, workforce mapping, and emergency response.

Who Should Register?

The directory is open, inclusive, and free. Any individual or organization contributing to mental wellbeing can join, including:

  1. Clinical Providers: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychiatric nurses, social workers, Occupational therapists, Addiction specialists, GPs offering MH services, Other regulated practitioners
  2. Non-Clinical & Community Providers: Counsellors, Coaches, Peer supporters, Advocates, Community leaders, Faith-based mental-health ministries, Youth mental-health clubs, Lived-experience champions, Content creators, Support-group facilitators
